Everything you need to know about Guarana
What is Guarana extract and why is it so commonly found in energy drinks?

Guarana, a fruit plant native to Brazil, has been used in herbal medicine for over 300 years for its many beneficial properties, including reducing fatigue, boosting energy, and improving learning and memory. Guarana has more than 3 times more caffeine per gram than coffee, making it a popular ingredient in energy drinks such as Monster and Red Bull.
When we talk about caffeine and mental health, we like to compare caffeine to a tool. You can build a house with it or get hurt with it; it depends on how you use it.
Clinical studies have shown that caffeine can increase mood, alertness, focus, and cognitive function, especially during longer or more complex tasks. Moderate caffeine consumption (no more than 400 mg per day) is associated with fewer depressive symptoms and fewer cognitive errors.
Conversely, if you are sensitive to caffeine or consume too much (usually more than 400 mg per day), you may be more sensitive to caffeine-induced anxiety, so be careful when using it.
Coffee vs. Guarana extract
The caffeine in coffee is bound to an acid, which allows it to be released immediately after encountering stomach acid. This causes the caffeine to work quickly, often resulting in jitters or a caffeine spike after just a few hours.
The caffeine in guarana extract, on the other hand, is slowly released into your bloodstream because it is bound to organic substances called tannins and polyphenols. The result is that guarana's invigorating effects tend to be milder and last between 5 and 9 hours.
Why Guarana extract can reduce fatigue and improve concentration
The study found that people who took guarana extract felt less tired in several tests compared to those who took a placebo.
Interestingly, other studies also show that guarana can reduce mental fatigue in those undergoing cancer treatment without significant side effects.
Effect of guarana extract on learning ability
Studies have shown that guarana can improve your ability to learn and remember information. One study investigated the effects of different doses of guarana extract on mood and learning. Those who received 37.5 mg or 75 mg of guarana extract achieved
